Great Ideas for Your Old Wine Bottles

Posted by Robyn on 2/21/2014 to Wine Gifts
As a wine lover, you likely go through a number of wine bottles per week or per month. You can recycle them when you’re done, but if you really want to reduce your carbon footprint, you can find ways to reuse them. Repurposing your wine bottles can also help you extend your love of wine to other areas of your home.
Here are just a few great ideas for repurposing your old wine bottles:

Vases
Wine bottles make lovely vases, whether you just remove the label and fill the bottle with water or you decorate the bottle to create an entirely new look. For example, you can paint the bottle a solid color, then add a stamp, applique or other design. You can even put several together in a line to spell out a word, such as “Joy” for a holiday display. Put a few fresh or dried flowers in each bottle.

Lanterns
You can use your wine bottles for lighting options inside or out. Inside, just run a string of white Christmas lights inside the bottle for a beautiful display any time of year. Outside, fill the bottle with heating oil and run a wick through the neck. Hang it on your porch or affix it to a post to create a beautiful outdoor lighting display.

Planters
Wine bottles can make an interesting garden display. Fill them with soil and a bit of fertilizer, then drop a couple of seeds inside. You can plant single flowers or herbs. The key is to keep it simple since whatever you plant won’t have much room to spread out inside the bottle. Keep the bottles clear or decorate them as you like.

There are dozens of ways to use old wine bottles around your house or in your décor. Use these ideas to get you started, or brainstorm to come up with other creative projects.
